Just because Jordan born and raised dentist Dr. Ken Southward has transferred ownership of his practice, does not mean he is looking for a rocking chair in retirement.
Dr. Tom Adams has taken over Dr. Southward’s King Street practice, which has been in Beamsville for 42 years.
“We were very fortunate when we listed the practice that we had a great deal of interest,” said Dr. Southward.
“Our whole team supported choosing Tom as the dentist who best represented the way we have tried to do things.”
Dr. Southward said he will gradually reduce his time in the clinic and already has plans to fill all his spare time.
“I would like to approach the government about a pilot project for preventative dental care for Natives in northern Canada,” said Dr. Southward.
“I’m not talking about extracting teeth. The key is prevention.”
For Dr. Adams, he knows there is a strong tradition of expert care to carry on with in the community.
“We will have the same staff, hours of operation, all those things,” said Dr. Adams, noting he will continue to maintain his initial practice in St. Catharines in addition to the Beamsville operation.
There will also be an addition of a part-time orthodontist to the team.
Dr. Adams noted the clinic is open for new patients and emergency calls are also welcome.
