Apparent fire bug returns to West Lincoln

A second spate of suspicious fires flared up last week in West Lincoln.

After several fires kept firefighting crews busy Nov. 16-17, Niagara Regional Police say another rash of fires overnight last Thursday
started with a hay bale fire on Westbrook Road at 10:30 p.m.

This was followed Friday night by a vehicle fire on Sixteen Road just after 2 a.m. on Friday.

The vehicle had not been used in a few months, noted 8 Dist. Cmdr. Mike Woods.

About 15 minutes later a trailer fire was reported on Conc. 5. It was a scrap trailer. It was destroyed.

About 1:30 p.m. a report was recieved about a mailbox being lit on fire, also on Conc. 5, but police believe it was set ablaze overnight as well.

“We are also still requesting residents in rural West Lincoln to be vigilant in watching for suspicious persons/vehicles, and ask that they contact police immediately at 905-945-2211 Ext. 4320 (police dispatch), reporting any physical descriptions of persons or vehicles, and the licence plate number and last known direction of travel of any vehicles,” noted Dist. Cmdr. Woods. “We are continuing to investigate these incidents.”A second spate of suspicious fires flared up last week in West Lincoln.
