The Jordan trestle bridge was a target of a terrorist-linked plot, according to documents released last week at the direction of a provincial judge.
The release, after a request from the National Post and other media outlets, it was learned that two men, Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser, had visited Niagara in September 2012 as part of devising a plan to blow up the bridge, derail a passenger plan and kill innocent people.
The investigation which uncovered the plot was a joint RCMP and FBI initiative and spanned multiple countries. Much of the evidence –– such as any reason why –– remains under publication ban.
