Niagara Regional Police have updated information regarding the fatal accident on Hwy. 20 last week which claimed two lives.
On Thursday, March 13, 2014 at approximately 11:48 a.m. the Niagara Regional Police Service, the Niagara Emergency Medical Services and the West Lincoln Fire Department were dispatched to Regional Road 20 south of Twenty Mile Creek Road in the Township of West Lincoln for a three-vehicle collision.
Police investigation revealed that a 20-year-old female from Hannon, Ontario was operating a 2004 Mazda southbound on Regional Road 20 on a partially snow and ice covered roadway when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed over the centre line and side swiped a northbound 2013 Ford F-150.
The Ford was being operated by a 57 year old Wainfleet male and was carrying a 64 year old male passenger also from Wainfleet. After the impact with the Mazda the Ford crossed over the centre line and was struck by a southbound, 2001 Honda Civic being operated by a 21 year old Stoney Creek male and was carrying a 21 year old male passenger from Hamilton.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene while the passenger of the Honda was transported to the Hamilton Health Sciences-West Lincoln Memorial Site where he succumbed to his injuries.
The passenger of the Ford was transported to the Niagara Health System- Welland Site with serious injuries, while the driver was transported to the Hamilton Health Sciences- General Site with serious injuries.
The 20 year old female from Hannon did not report any injuries to police.
The identities of the deceased are NOT being released at the request of the family.
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit. Any witnesses with information regarding this collision are asked to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.

Families have released the names of the deceased in this collision this afternoon (Thursday). The driver of the 2001 Honda Civic was identified as Albunit Hiseni and his passenger Flamur Miftari of Stoney Creek, Ontario.
The two males from Wainfleet have since been released from hospital, are now recuperating at home and wish to remain anonymous.
On Thursday, March 20th, 2014 Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit charged the operator of the 2004 Mazda, 20-year-old Roza Omerahmad of Hannon, Ontario with Carless Driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Omerahmad was summoned and will appear in court at a later date.
