Niagara’s Chambers to co-host economic summit

Niagara’s Chambers of Commerce have invited their municipal politicians to a collaborative event aimed at building a stronger Niagara on June 13th at the Welland International Flatwater Centre.

Working in partnership, local Chambers of Commerce have joined with the Niagara Industrial Association (NIA) to present “Building Niagara Together” – a can’t-miss event aimed at bringing together Niagara’s municipal politicians to begin a collaborative discussion around Niagara’s future.

The Niagara Falls, Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Fort Erie, Port Colborne-Wainfleet, and Welland/Pelham Chambers along with the NIA who is sponsoring the event, will be hosting an evening of connections and conversations to bring together all of Niagara’s local elected officials to truly start connecting and understanding the issues that are affecting all of Niagara.

Olympic bronze medalist Mark Oldershaw, who trained on the Welland International Flatwater Centre here in Niagara, is the evening’s guest speaker, sharing his perspective on the power of teamwork in collectively making Niagara a world champion.

“We believe that Mark’s message can be very impactful here in Niagara. Working together will get us to where we need to be”, stated Roy Timms, Chair of the NIA.

While opportunities exist for municipal politicians to meet with colleagues from across the province and the country, there is no structured opportunity for local politicians to meet with each other here in Niagara. Exchanging ideas, making connections and discussing the issues that are important to the taxpayers across Niagara are some of the things event organizers hope will continue beyond this inaugural event.
