Tim Hudak will resign as Progressive Conservative Party leader in the coming days.
After being elected Thursday night as Niagara West Glanbrook’s MPP again, the Liberal majority win on a provincial scale led to his decision.
While thanking all his local supporters and volunteers and candidates province-wide, he said he will continue to represent the riding.
He thanked his family, wife Deb Hutton, and daughters Miller and Maitland, for their understanding. They “stood by me through thick and thin” during a job that “keeps me too often too far away from home,” Hudak said.
Despite the setback, Hudak told his party faithful gathered at the St. Mary’s Banquet Hall in Grimsby that, “I truly believe our best days are yet to come”.
