Grace Tennant scored three gold medals at OFSAA track and field.
The 15-year-old South Lincoln student beat the OFSAA record in shotput with a 12.10 metre throw, shattering the old record of 11.07 m.
She was 11 cm off the oldest OFSAA record for discus, with a gold medal throw of 40.67 metres.
She took home the gold in javelin with a throw of 38.35 metres.
Her coach John Ahlstedt is very proud of her accomplishment.
“Only one other person, in the past 50 years has triple gold-medalled in OFSAA field events,” he said.
Her mom Debbie is also super proud.
“She went into it knowing she would do well. Her goal was to break records,” she said. “She broke one and missed the discus record by 11 cm.”
Grace was very excited about taking home three gold medals.
She trains hard, five days a week for an hour and a half each day. She also maintains a 94/95 per cent average at school.
