A 28 year old Brantford woman was transported by Niagara EMS to West Lincoln Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a single motor vehicle rollover collision on Regional Road 65 (Silver St) just east of Abingdon Rd. in the Town of West Lincoln.
The woman was travelling eastbound when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle crossed the center line into the westbound lanes, entering the ditch on the north side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree, rolled over, and came to rest on the front lawn of a residential property.
The driver, the lone occupant, of the vehicle was trapped for approximately 45 minutes while members of the West Lincoln Fire Department used the “jaws of life” to extricate her from the vehicle. The driver was wearing her seatbelt which prevented her from sustaining more serious injuries.
Conditions at the time of the collision were fair, with light rain and wet roads. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111 ext. 5400.
Charges are pending against the driver. Police are reminding all motorists to drive according to the road and weather conditions, eliminate distractions, and drive sober.
