Serious collision closes Mountain Road Grimsby this morning

This morning, Monday, just after 6 a.m. the Niagara Regional Police Service, the Grimsby Fire Department and the Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Mountain Road at Mud Road in Grimsby.

Initial investigation revealed that a 33-year-old Hamilton male was driving a 2009 Peterbuilt dump truck south bound on Mountain road and stopped at the intersection. The Peterbuilt was struck from behind by a 37 year-old-Grimsby male driving a 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck that was also south bound on Mountain Road.

Mountain Road closed most of the morning to allow the accident reconstruction team to complete their investigation.

Both drivers were initially transported by ambulance to the Hamilton Health Sciences West Lincoln Hospital site. The driver of the Ford Ranger was transported the Hamilton Health Sciences General Hospital in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Peterbuilt suffered minor injuries in this collision.

This collision remains under investigation by 8 District Grimsby Uniform Patrol assisted by Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction and Forensic Services Unit’s as well as the Ministry of Transportation.
