In the freezer at Grimsby Benevolent Fund’s food bank if executive director Stacy Elia has her way.
The GBF has initiated a new program in an attempt to provide as well-rounded a diet for families in need as possible with a new meat program.
“Whether it be a roast or pork chops we are trying to provide healthy choices,” said Elia.
To get things started right, Laurie Didyk, owner of Station 1 Coffeehouse presented proceeds from her monthly fundraising to Elia earmarked for the meat program.
“The GBF does such great work in the community it is very nice to be able to help them get something a little different for those in need,” said Didyk.
The availability of meat in the food bank is not lost on clients.
“The families really appreciate it. They now have a choice for a nice Sunday dinner,” said Elia.
