Two Grimsby firefighters earned medals of distinguished service at the Fire Services Long Service Medal Ceremony in Niagara Falls.
Jeffrey Dancer and Raymond Fisher of the Grimsby Fire Department earned their medals for 25 years of dedicated service last Thursday, in a ceremony rewarding the work of firefighters from throughout the region.
The ceremony featured opening remarks from Ted Wieclawek, fire marshal and chief of emergency management, and also featured several guests, including Grimsby Fire Chief Mike Cain.Wieclawek praised the long service of the 30 recipients from our region. He made mention of “their dedication, not only themselves but their families. Thank you for your service.”
The award, which was first presented in 1971, includes a medal featuring the Matese cross and the Ontario coat of arms, as well as a written citation from the Fire Marshal of Ontario.
