When the Grimsby Peach Kings doubled Woodstock in the Ontario Hockey Federation championship game last weekend 4-2, it capped a 25-0 playoff run.
It also marked the first time a Grimsby team earned such a championship.
“We knew at the start of the year we had a chance to go all the way. It was a lot of pressure,” said coach John DeTullio.
“Opportunities don’t come along like that every day. It was a great season.”
The squad breezed through the five-team round robin, meeting Woodstock again, which gave them their closest test of the tourney earlier, a 3-2 Grimsby win. “The kids and coaches are looking forward to raising the championship banner some time next season,” DeTullio said.
