Effective May 1, Grimsby Power will be stepping up its procedures when it comes to contacting overdue accounts.
GP’s chief executive officer Doug Curtiss said the utility will now be opting to make automated calls to an account’s registered phone number, or emailing
clients upon first notice.
In addition to being more effective and, potentially, reducing subsequent collections procedures, Curtiss said the move will also save money as it will do away with costs of mailing notices.
“We expect it to save between $5,000 and $10,000 annually,” said Curtiss, noting well over 400 phone notices are already made per month, and 80-120 paper
notices get mailed.
