Motorcyclist seriously injured in West Lincoln crash

Tuesday September 1 at approximately 8:35 pm Niagara Regional Police, West Lincoln Fire Department and ambulance personnel attended the area of Smithville Road and Caistor Gainsborough Town line Road in West Lincoln in response to a reported motorcycle accident.

Investigation showed a lone male operator of a motorcycle was travelling north on Smithville Road approaching the bend at Caistor Gainsborough Town Line Road when he lost control of his motorcycle.

The motorcycle left the roadway and ended up approximately 200 m east of Smithville Road in a soya bean field and caught on fire.

A 35-yearld West Lincoln resident suffered serious injuries that were deemed life threatening.

The male was subsequently air lifted to Hamilton General Hospital. The matter remains under investigation being conducted by 8 District Officers and the Niagara Regio nal Police Reconstruction Unit.
