Sunday, Sept. 20 at about 7 p.m., members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, the Niagara Emergency Medical Service and the West Lincoln Fire Service responded to reports of a vehicle roll-over that had occurred on Reg. Rd. 27 at Baldwin Road in the Township of West Lincoln.
Investigators determined that a 2009 Kia Rondo, driven by a 72-year-old male from Paris, Ontario, was travelling south on Reg. Rd. 27 at Baldwin Road. As the Kia entered a curve at that location, the lone driver lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.
The Kia struck a driveway embankment and was sent airborne onto a residential property on the west side of the road. The Kia landed and rolled several times before coming to final rest on its roof.
Emergency crews quickly attended and freed the male from the vehicle. The 72 year-old male driver received fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are not releasing the name of the deceased, pending notification of next-of-kin
This collision remains under investigation by Detectives of the Niagara Regional Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit.
