Biggest Hat Trick Hockey ever launched

For 20 years Hat Trick Hockey has been part of the West Niagara landscape and this year marks a first, and the return of something just plain cool.

“We have nine sponsors, with a couple more who may be added and that is bigger than it has ever been prize-wise,” said NewsNow publisher Mike Williscraft.

“Getting to nine is a first. Also, for the 2015-2016 winner, they will have an opportunity to go to a Cup finals game. The only other time that was done, it was 10 years ago. That was the only year Hat Trick drew over 1,000 entries.”

For the $5 entry fee, it can be a lot of fun, noted Williscraft.

“While it would be great to win it all, only one person will do that. So we have a host of weekly prizes which any entrant could win. You could be 523rd spot and win a gift certificate for Teddy’s, for example,” said Williscraft.

Other weekly prizes will include gift certificates for Touchdown Willie’s in Smithville, Pizza Shak in Vineland, Grimsby Tackle, Boo’s Bar and Eatery in Jordan, Teddy’s Food, Fun & Spirits and Cole’s Florist.

For those who are fighting it out for top spot…you could be going to Montreal for a Cup finals game (of course), but if you end up in second place, you will have $250 in Giant Tiger gift certificates with which to console yourself. Third place is a $50 GT gift certificate.

“Rein Knol and his team at Grimsby Hyundai have been the Grand Prize sponsor for several years and they have stepped up again this year,” said Williscraft.

“And it is the sponsors who really make the whole thing go because without their commitment there would be nothing to give away.”

For those who want a shot an an extra prize, be sure to get your entries in by next Friday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. for the Early Bird draw. The prize will be four tickets to the Toronto Maple Leafs vs Vancouver Canucks game on Saturday, Nov. 14.

That is the Canucks only trip to Toronto this season unless, of course, they both make the Cup final.

“This is all very exciting and we look forward to following another great season of hockey and gving out nearly 150 prizes,” said Williscraft.

If the pool draws 750 entries this season each entrant would have a one-in-five chance of winning a prize.
