All about the people: Lincoln Chamber

An organization, like any business, is only as good as its people.

And the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce board of directors knows it has been lucky to have some very good people involved during its 30-year run.

“It’s all about the people. I have a lot of respect for the small business owner and know how hard it is to become a success story. As well, support of our larger business members in our community has also made a big impact on the success of our Chamber,” said manager Cathy McNiven, who has been a key member of the organization for nearly 25 years.

“Our members are people and businesses who I care about and that I’ve always been a big fan of, so I will do anything I can to help them succeed.”

Current Lincoln Chamber president Mike Williscraft agreed.

“A Chamber of commerce’s goal is to harness and coordinate business affairs in a community and drive forward a concerted plan to allow its members to grow and prosper,” said Williscraft.

“In Lincoln, as in other Niagara West communities, there is a great variety of businesses both in terms of size and service. Catering to the varied needs is of paramount importance to our board.”

Today, the Lincoln Chamber has a vibrant board, active member base and 220 total members. Just a couple of years ago, the direction was less desirable, so there have been ups and downs.

“There was a possibility the Chamber would fold into another group, but the membership soundly rejected that notion. The result, though, seemed to be a wake up call of sorts and the membership has never been more attentive,” said Williscraft.

Added McNiven, “I see endless possibilities for this Chamber’s growth and the impact it will have on our community.”
