It seems as though Town of Grimsby officials will move relatively swiftly in dealing with a bizarre policy implemented seemingly overnight last week.
With no notice to users, the Lake Street dog park was padlocked in the evening last Thursday, just after a sign was posted earlier that day noting it would be locked in this manner night, a half hour before dusk.
The move makes no sense at all since the town’s noise by-law states 11 p.m. and, as Ald. Steve Berry noted to one resident, the town has a policy to close its parks at 9:30 p.m.
The latter is all well and good, but it is difficult to recall seeing a padlock on Centennial Park for example.
There is no need for this kind of heavy handed measure, simple because a dog park has a fence and “can” be locked. Glad to see this is being rectified.
