Grimsby Peach Kings closed the deal tonight kicking Port Dover to the curb with a 5-1 win to take their first round series 4-2.
Garnet McComber got things started with a first period goal and Jeromy Hopkins’ power play marker in the second gave the Peach Kings a 2-0 lead.
In the third, the Peach Kings took command with three straight goals – from Brennan Smith, Brady Cranwell and Aidan Board – before Port broke the shutout bid by goalie Jeremy Currie with 7:32 left on the clock.
Now, the Dundas Blues will provide the second round competition.
Game 1 goes in Dundas next Thursday, Deb. 18, start 7:30 p.m.
Game 2 (Friday, Feb. 19) and Game 3 (Sunday, Feb. 21) will both be at the Peach King Centre. Both start at 7:30 p.m.
