Noni’s draws on family tradition

Noni’s Pizzeria in Grimsby may be new, but there is nothing new about the food which the new eatery makes.

Located at 4 Livingston Ave. – the old Christie’s Dairy building – brothers Angelo and Dino Maddalena utilize the recipes crafted by their 102-year-old grandmother in all they do.

“We grew up in a very close, large family. Noni, at 102, is the backbone and head of our family. She is the mother of seven children as well as grandmother and great grandmother of 26. Noni lived with my sister, brother and I growing up and she always stressed the importance of family, tradition, and culture. To her, passing on the recipes and way of life is crucial.

With my sister, brother and I growing up and she always stressed the importance of family, tradition, and culture,” said Angelo. “To her, passing on the recipes and way of life is crucial.”

Ingredients for their pizzas and pasta sauces are all carefully chosen to follow the recipes. With the pizza, the brothers say they are introducing Welland-style pizza to Niagara West.

“The style has influences from Buffalo and Niagara Falls New York,” said Dino. “We are so excited to be here in Grimsby doing what we love to do.”
