Community Living “humbled” by Chamber award

Now in its 51st year of operation, Community Living of Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln’s team was very happy to hear it had won a Grimsby & District Chamber of Commerce award.

“This organization, like many non-profit organizations, are ‘unsung heroes’ in the service industry as they go about their business often without accolades or few acknowledgements,” said Sarina Labonts, Community Living’s executive director.

“This award symbolizes a true appreciation and recognition for the work that we do as a social service agency and the many contributions we make to the citizens of Grimsby and througout West Niagara. We sincerely thank the Chamber.”

Board member Margaret Rohan, director of vocational community employment services, noted the group is one of the area’s largest employers with about 190 who find work throught the organization.

“That is a huge reinvestment in the community,” noted Labonte.

Community Living – a non-profit organization – is governed by a board of directors and does accept donations.

The organization was founded by a committed and dedicated family of members wishing a better life and much-needed services for their family member living with an intellectual disability,” said Labonte.
