The Question that most people have asked me this election is; Why should I vote for Randy VAINE?
I answer this question with three words, Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, these are traits which are ingrained in me after over 29 years as a Federal Border Officer. I have proudly served my country and community defending our borders, now it is time that I bring these traits and qualities to serving my community at the most important level of government, the level closest to the people, Town Council.
I have stood side by side with my neighbors and fellow residents on many issues over the past 5 years ranging from Championing for Responsible Development within our neighborhoods to protecting our sensitive environmental areas of our town.
I will continue in these roles and should I be elected, I will also be accountable to my constituents for Responsible spending resulting in taxes in line with cost of living increases. I will bring tough questions to Grimsby Hydro re: finances as well as continuing the fight to protect the environmentally sensitive Woodlot.
I will strive to create a fairly priced Made in Grimsby Local Transit system that will not only cover Grimsby but will allow our residents to connect with Lincoln and Hamilton. I have heard from many of our residents that they feel trapped in their homes so this will allow people who cannot drive to get to work and to the shops in our community. This will encourage people to use transit instead of cars to commute.
My strength is Transparency and I will keep all of my constituents informed on important issues around the town via email and phone.
As an active member of our community I support our great local organizations and support our local businesses, promoting local shopping as much as possible. I plan to work with other members of Council and Town Staff to seek ways to bring new businesses and jobs to our town. By bringing more businesses to Town it will help keep our taxes low as currently over 90% of the Town’s taxes are from residential taxes.
I am a proud supporter and will work very hard to protect the Town’s History and Heritage and to maintain the small town feel that we all love while welcoming new residents and Responsible Development.
To my wife and I, Grimsby is our Home. We love our Town and we are proud to live here.
It is time for Change. As we move forward and as the town grows, we need new leadership and a fresh perspective to take on the challenges that this growth will bring. I am a proven leader and a team player who can and will take on the challenges facing our town working along side with the Residents incorporating their input into my decision making process.
