WL Chamber launches business survey

If you own or operate a business in West Lincoln, the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce wants to hear from you. The chamber is launching a survey of local businesses and organizations in the hopes of finding out how best to support and serve them.

“Our chamber’s vision is to be the voice of business in West Lincoln,” said Paul Robertson, job developer with the Employment Help Centre in Smithville and a member of the chamber’s strategic planning committee.

“In order to be the voice of business, we need to know what businesses think.”

The online survey, accessible from the chamber’s website and Facebook page, will take about five minutes to complete, Robertson said.

Businesses or organizations don’t need to be a member of the chamber to participate, they just need to have a presence in West Lincoln. At the end of the survey, respondents will have the opportunity to enter a draw to win a free pair of tickets to the chamber’s upcoming business awards luncheon, to be held in May.

Insurance senior account manager Jennifer Ahlstedt, who runs her business from her home in Wellandport, recently joined the chamber.

“I joined because it’s a great way to meet people,” said Ahlstedt.

“It gives you exposure, gets you involved in the community, and you learn about other businesses.”

The chamber wants to know more about why businesses like Ahlstedt’s join the chamber – or don’t, Robertson said. It will also use the information gleaned from the survey to develop its five-year strategic plan.

“The chamber wants to work in the best interests of our community and its businesses,” said Dave Tamminga, owner of Carruther’s Printing in Smithville and also a member of the chamber’s strategic planning committee.

“Participating in the survey is essential because it shows the chamber what current and future members want.”
