Veronica Charrois, Ward 3, Grimsby 2022
Hello! My name is Veronica Charrois. I have lived in Grimsby for 35 years and reside in Ward 3 with my husband and two children. I am Ward 3 through and through, and I am determined to give our residents a voice at Council, which has been lacking with our current representation.
My background is in Sport Management and Education. In the past, I’ve taught at both the elementary and secondary levels. Most recently, I’ve completed training in family mediation and have been helping manage my husband’s small HVAC business over the last few years.
During the last term of council, I’ve diligently watched council meetings and researched every pressing issue. I’ve participated in resident engagement sessions and have stood up against unreasonable overdevelopment applications, unsafe firearm discharge bylaws within our Grimsby neighborhoods, and the inappropriate actions of some Members of Council. I have also communicated Town issues with our MPP, the Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, and the Ombudsman’s Office. Successfully, I have challenged the wall of silence at Town Hall regarding the Town’s CAO and his mismanagement of our Town.
To better keep the community connected, I have also co-created and managed an online community platform that connects residents, fundraised for families and not-for-profits in need, created awareness and engagement on municipal issues, highlighted Grimsby’s heritage, and aided businesses with a free support local initiative.
I have done the work and will continue championing a safe, family-friendly, and community-focused Grimsby. I would be honoured to be one of your elected Ward 3 representatives.
