Gene Alway
1950-2023
It is with great in our hearts, the family of Gene Alway announce his passing on June 15 2023 at Westhills Care Centre in St-Catharines. Gene Leaves behind his beloved wife Geraldine of 27 years, his daughters Kelly, Whitney, Pam (James) Savage, and son Joe Savard, his sisters Mary Lou (Akerley), Kay (Dave Ratclif, Barbara (Charlie) Morningstar, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his brother in law, Dave Lawson. He is predeceased by his mother Margaret and Father Clyde, sister Margaret Ann McKinnon and brothers Clyde and Doug and his grandson Dennis “Dutch” Moore.
Gene was a proud Grimsby Beach “Bad” Boy. He cherished his family and friends and was loyal to all. His honorary title of “ The Mayor of Grimsby Beach” will be long remembered. He loved life and never met a stranger. Gene believed that if you followed all the rules, you would miss out on a lot of fun. He delighted in being “Papa” to his grandson Dutch. Their laughter will be a memory that lives in our hearts forever.
Brother Dog acquired their baseball gear at a young age, paving the way to his Lifelong love of the game. Gene, Gene, the dancing machine. He loved to dance and had all the moves. He enjoyed his years on the road as a tractor trailer owner/operator. He was proud of his trucks and kept them well-dressed in chrome.
A heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses and all the incredible staff at Westhills Care Center. Cremation has taken place and as Gene would say “Party to follow”. Details will be announced at a later date.
He will “Keep on trucking” in our hearts forever.
