Elaine was born in Renfrew, Ontario to Andrew and Mary Kurkoski on May 5th, 1943. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy and Renfrew Collegiate Institute. After getting married in 1965, Elaine moved to Toronto and subsequently lived in Ottawa, Scarborough, Mississauga, Nassau (Bahamas), Oakville while supporting Clint in his banking career, finally settling in Grimsby. Elaine devoted her life to raising her children into their teens after which she worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia until retiring in 1995. For Elaine her home was her castle. She enjoyed spending time with close family and friends, decorating, organizing, dining out and, in retirement, travelling. She loved animals, particularly her dogs Misty and Taylor. Both were very loved and lived long healthy lives. All animals, including squirrels, birds, cats and dogs were simply attracted by her presence.
Elaine was very proud to be a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and visits were cherished. She was attentive to all, gave valued advice steering all towards self-sufficiency and independence, while keeping all true to themselves. She was a strong, empathetic, compassionate woman, a role model and friend that loved whole-heartedly and was loved deeply in return. People wanted to be around Elaine. Anyone who met and got to know Elaine found her to be a very kind, friendly and considerate person. She will be remembered fondly and sadly missed by so many…Visitation to be held at Stonehouse-Whitcomb Funeral Home, 11 Mountain Street, Grimsby, 905-945-2755 on Saturday, June 3rd at 1 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm.
